NEW Exhibition HABITUÉS — James Hodgson & I.Mills

Private View - Wednesday 4th March — Klose & Soan, Deptford

On Wednesday 4th March, we open our space to two London-based artists whose practices sit gently in the spaces between movement and stillness, reflection and presence.

For the month our March, our front room/ gallery space becomes a meeting point for material, light and lived experience.

I.MILLS is an artist living and working in London. She is interested in atmosphere, collective experiences and how visual landscape changes when materials and imagery take on new roles when presented together.  Her work contemplates the nature of journeys, fragility and in-between with a focus on driving and movement to explore feelings of transience, mystery and ways of seeing. I.MILLS is fascinated with the materiality of shiny and sparkly things, and the metaphor of reflecting on experience this creates.

James Hodgson graduated from Glasgow School of Art, Department of Sculpture & Environmental Art, he lives & works in London

His practice involves painting, sculpture, drawing and collage. Studio blo88ydepp also undertakes bespoke gilding and glass commissions.

James will be exhibiting recent charcoal portraits and a glass mirror work in this show.

An evening of vibes and good energy

As with everything we host, this isn’t a formal white-wall exhibition. It’s an invitation to gather — to take in the works, to pause with a glass in hand and to notice how the light shifts across surfaces as the evening unfolds.

There’s something fitting about presenting work concerned with journeys and reflection especially within our space that constantly holds experiences of the collective journey.

We’ll be open as usual, with all the snacks you can eat (our restaurant dinner menu will not be available), natural and organic wines flowing alongside non-alcoholic options too, oh, and cocktails! 

Come for the energy, come for a drink, come for the snacks and definitely come to feast your eyes.
